Maxine Hinkle

After a long and productive life, Maxine Hinkle went to be with the Lord on January 20, 2017. Born in Gipsy, Mo., on May 21, 1924, she was the daughter of William David and Mary Susan Thomas Hinkle.

Maxine never married but influenced many while teaching in Gipsy and Zalma. She was happy to live on the family farm for years, raising chickens and selling eggs. Eventually she sold the farm and settled at the El Nathan Home in Marble Hill. There she served others by cooking tasty meals for the residents. She graciously lived at El Nathan and was a friend to all.

Her church family was the Marble Hill Bible Chapel. She was a talented, versatile poet, enjoying the gift of words.

Maxine is survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, two half sisters and a half brother. She will be greatly missed by many other family and friends.

Visitation will be Monday, Jan. 23, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. with Dr. John Englehart officiating. Burial will follow in Berrong Cemetery near Zalma.
