John Henry Peters

John Henry Peters, 72, of Marble Hill, Mo., died unexpectedly at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo., on Sat., Feb. 11, 2017. Born on Jan. 23, 1945, in Bessville, Mo., he was the son of John and Lorene King Peters. He married Charlotte L. Farrow on Dec. 10, 1966. She survives.

John worked as a sewing machine mechanic for many years. He worked for Paramont Hat Co. for over 20 years before joining Henschel Manufacturing, from which he retired. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Leopold, Mo., and the Knights of Columbus Council 5898. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam war, and was a member of the VFW Post 5900 in Marble Hill.

Besides his wife he is survived by three daughters: Lisa Statler of Marble Hill, Lora Liebich of Foley, Mo., and Jonna Halavats of Troy, Mo.; a son: Johnny L. Peters of Marble Hill; six sisters: Mary Schaefer, Ruth Britton, Irene Peters, Bernadene Seabaugh, Esther Welker, and Rose Ann Beel; a sister-in-law, Mary Jane Peters; five grandchildren: Kristin and Katlyn Statler, Billy Liebich, Amber Raasch, and Amanda McMillan; and three great-grandchildren: Sebastian Raasch, Issac and Alexandria Cundiff. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Virgil, and a grandchild.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017, at Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. A Knights of Columbus rosary and parish prayers will begin at 7:00 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church in Leopold. Rev. David Coon will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
