Lenora Estella Gifford
Was born on September 20, 1920, in Hardin County, Tennessee, the daughter of Martin Owen and Jewell Hyacinth Godwin Stanfield. She was born to eternal life on September 23, 2017, from Woodland Hills in Marble Hill, Missouri. She was 97 years and three days of age.
Estella was married to William Lloyd Gifford, Sr. To their union seven children were born: four sons: Tony Gifford, William Lloyd (Ruth Ann) Gifford, Jr., Harry (Paula) Gifford, and Michael Gifford; three daughters: Kathy Dudenhoffer, Sandy Fee and Debbie (Randy) Poole. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Steele, Mo., and after moving to live with her daughter, attended New Salem Baptist Church. Her church and her kids and grandkids were her life. She taught Sunday School for years and also Bible School and had been a member of the Eastern Star. In 1940 she began a
career in cosmetology and hairdressing.
She is survived by five children, 22 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was her husband, parents, a son, Tony; a daughter, Kathy Dudenhoffer; a grandson, three brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be on Monday, Sept. 25, 2017, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at New Salem Baptist Church near Marble Hill. Funeral Services will be conducted at the church on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m., with Rev. Randy Poole officiating. Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. in Mt. Zion Cemetery at Steele, Mo. Hutchings Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
