Bernice Violet (Watson) Sneed

Bernice (Dickie) Watson Sneed

Departed this life on January 10, 2018, surrounded by family and friends. She had been looking forward to “Glory” and was at peace with her Redeemer. She lived many of her years in Lutesville/Marble Hill and spent the remainder of her last years residing in St. Louis, near her son, who was also her caregiver.

She is survived by a large family: three daughters and one son; Dr. and Mrs. David Marshall (Joyce), Omaha, NE ; Dr. and Mrs. John Brunner (Sue), Hot Springs, AR; Mr. and Mrs. M.L. Miller (Kay), Natchez, MS; and Timothy Dees, St. Louis; and one sister, Mrs. Charlotte(Mike) Proffer, Cape Girardeau. She had 10 grandchildren , and 20 great- grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Clyde W. Sneed; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Watson and 2 brothers and 3 sisters. There are numerous nieces and nephews.

Born on March 15, 1921, at Dongola, Mo., she was the daughter of Albert and Lillie Anderson Watson. At 96 she had a long and varied life. Always active in her church, an accomplished quilter, avid gardener, fabulous cook, keen card player, and a good friend, she was famous with her grandchildren for strawberry picking , jelly making , homemade chicken and dumplings and of course, pies and cobblers. Courage would also be one of her big attributes, battled cancer at a young age and then was a single parent for years. She continued her education also as an adult, and supported her family. Her grandchildren called her (Go- Go) Granny, and we celebrate her faith and life.

A Memorial Service will be held on January 27, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at the Marble Hill United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held following the service with refreshments. Hutchings Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
