Earl F. Vogel, 84, of Marble Hill, Mo., passed away April 8, 2018, at Woodland Hills in Marble Hill. Born on August 11, 1933, in St. Louis, Mo., he was the son of Earl F. and Ann O’Grinc Vogel, Sr. He married Donna Jean Weber on Nov. 26, 1960, in St. Louis.
He graduated from St. Louis University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering and a Masters of Business degree. Following employment with Emerson Electric and Lee Rowan, he retired from the U.S. Department of Defense after 27 years.
For the past 22 years he has been active in many civic projects in Bollinger County. He was a member of the Bollinger County Chamber of Commerce, serving on many committees and Project Endeavor, promoting the Railroad Park. He worked tirelessly with his wife to establish, fund, and organize the Marble Hill Food Pantry.
He enjoyed remaining a member of his college faternity, Alpha Delta Gamma and the Corvair Club of St. Louis. He was a faithful member of St. John Catholic Church at Leopold. He was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus and participated with Knights of Columbus Council 5898 in many activities. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; a son, Tim Vogel of Lake Ozark, Mo.; a daughter, Vicki (Dennis) Duffin of St. Louis; a sister, Beverly (Paul) Kluba; five grandchildren: Matt, Marina, and Taylor Duffin, Nicholas (Shirley) Bruno, and Danielle (Jeffrey Woods) Bruno; and one great-grandchild, Enzo Bruno.
Visitation and the Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, April 12, 2018, at St. John Catholic Church at Leopold. Visitation will be from 8:30 until 9:30 a.m. at the church. A Knights of Columbus led rosary will begin at 9:30. The funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m. at the church with Father David Coon officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Marble Hill Food Pantry. Hutchings Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
