Denver Eugene Cook, 69, of Glen Allen, Mo., passed away at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo., on July 5, 2018. Born on Sept. 16, 1948, in Cape Girardeau, he was the son of Herman Denver and Pearl Ida Fuller Cook. He and Vicki Jo Owens were married on Feb. 26, 1971. She survives.
For the first half of his working life, Denver worked as a carpenter and an automobile and farm equipment mechanic. He went to work for the Missouri Department of Corrections and retired after 21 years from the Farmington Correctional Facility as a maintenance supervisor. He was enjoying retirement with daily trips to the coffee shop, repairing farm machinery, and watching Gunsmoke.
He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, serving most of his three tours on the Mekong River.
Besides his wife of 47 years, he is survived by two sons: Denver Todd (Jennifer) Cook of Glen Allen, and Jamie Eugene Cook of Jackson, Mo.; a sister, Carolyn Welker of Patton, Mo., five grandchildren: Derek Cook, Kyle Cook, Alexis Cook, Logan Cook, and Raeleigh Cook, and two great-granddaughters, Caroline and Cailyn Cook. His parents preceded him in death.
Visitation will be on Monday, July 9, 2018, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at the funeral home starting at noon. Rev. Fred Ritter and Kelly Francis will officiate.
Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.
