Hazel Lucille James, 94, of Marble Hill, Missouri, passed away on August 21, 2018, at Woodland Hills in Marble Hill. Born on Sept 3, 1923, in Greenbrier, Mo., she was the daughter of Sherman J. and Alma Mae Baker Elledge.
She married Clemo H. James on Nov. 9, 1940, in Sank, Mo. He preceded her in death on Dec. 5, 2001, after 61 years of marriage.
Hazel worked for Inland Shoe Company for over 25 years in the shipping department. She was a member of Point Pleasant Baptist Church and the Eastern Star.
She is survived by a daughter, Janet Fortenberry of Marble Hill; a son, John Harold (LaDonna) James of Marble Hill; three grandchildren: David and Donald James and April Fortenberry; seven great-grandchildren: Jody Scherer, Katie James, Amber James, Dimitri James, Madison James, Connor James and Tahara James; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers: Corbin Elledge and Robert Elledge; and two sisters: Nola Braddy and Elnoria Reed. She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be on Friday, Aug. 24, 2018, from 11:00 a.m. until service time at Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. with burial following in Point Pleasant Cemetery near Marble Hill.
