Cecil Woodrow Long

Cecil Woodrow Long, age 60, of Marble Hill, Missouri passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2019 at his home. He was born July 23, 1958 at Marble Hill, Missouri; son of Woodrow “Deak” and Maggie Russel Long.

Cecil graduated from Woodland High School in 1976 and shortly after was involved in an auto accident which forever changed his life. Although he was told he would never walk again, he beat all odds with his determination along with the care and support of his loving mother. After a time of recovery, he was given the opportunity to work at Royal Oak in Marble Hill building furniture and became a supervisor. It was later, he moved on to work at Henschel Hat Factory and then finished his working career as an equipment operator for a steel recycling company. No matter what Cecil was going through, he still managed to not give up. He was free spirited and well-known for his desire to help everyone before he would help himself. He had a passion for gun collecting and reading western books. He leaves behind a host of family and friends who will miss him dearly.

Survivors include; two sisters Judy (John) Stacy of Quitman, Arkansas; W. Jean (Floyd) Green of Marble Hill, Missouri; and five brothers Joe (Karen) Long of Marble Hill, Missouri; Billy Long and Donna Mayberry of Millstadt, Illinois; Danny Long of Columbia, Illinois; Gary Long of Mexico, Missouri; Bruce (Tracy) Long of Grassy, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Sandra Kay Brown and Lorna Fay Long, brother Jimmie Long.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Hutchings Funeral Home in Marble Hill, Missouri from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Elijah Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Plainview Cemetery near Marble Hill, Missouri.
