Mary Lucille Bonner
of St. Charles, Mo., was born January 13, 1923, in the rural Bollinger County community of Sank, Mo., the daughter of Joseph Wilson and Dora May Cooper Vavak.. She departed earthly life at Del Mar Gardens Nursing Center in O’Fallon, Mo., on May 20, 2010. She was 87 years, four months and seven days of age.
Lucille started her family at the age of 16. She was the mother of four children: Sally (Ron) Smith and John Vandeford, who survive her, and Donna Cassella and Kenneth O’Metcalfe, both whom preceded her in death.
For 45 years Lucille worked for McDonald-Douglas Corp.
in St. Louis building airplanes. She was the wife of
Ronald L. Bonner for 34 years. They made their home
in St. Charles, Mo., Ronald survives.
She is also survived by a sister, Edna Dunn of San Antonio, Tex., and a brother, Jim Vavak of Advance, Mo.; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
Her family remembers her for being a very loving matriarch to her family, and a loving sister, aunt, great-aunt, cousin, and a friend to many.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 22, 2010, at Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill, Mo., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. with Rev. Fred Ritter officiating. Burial will follow in Baker Cemetery near Marble Hill.
