Clifton Robert Davis was born Sept. 24, 1947, in St. Louis, MO., one of four sons of Charles Robert and Verona Loveda Brown Davis. He departed earthly life at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo., on June 22, 2010, following many years of ill health. He was 62 years, eight months, and 29 days of age.
Following his graduation from Woodland High School Clifton served in the Navy between Oct. 1968 through July 1970. Later he did various work with a vault company in St. Louis, and as a handyman for several businesses until his health became a problem.
He attended New Sylvan Church and enjoyed Christian singing groups. He especially appreciated good food. Eating was his specialty, but he also enjoyed shooting pool and playing bingo.
He is survived by his brothers, Donald Davis of Benton, Mo., and Wayne Davis of Milford, Del. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Larry Davis, and a nephew, Michael Davis.
Visition will be held on Friday, June 25, 2010, at Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be on Sat., June 26, at the funeral home with Bro. Sheldon F. Owen, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery near Scopus with military honors.
